Originally from Brockville, Ontario, Ritchard Findlay began his award-winning filmmaking career in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1987. In 1992, Ritchard formed Winnipeg’s Marble Island Pictures Corporation. He would be President and lead producer for 8 years, before relocating to Toronto in the fall of 2000.
Ritchard’s film credits include “The Hands of Ida,” directed by art house luminary Guy Maddin. Findlay and Maddin went on to collaborate on “Twilight of the Ice Nymphs.” While producing “Twilight,” Ritchard served as Executive Producer on “Guy Maddin: Waiting for Twilight,” a multi-award winning one-hour documentary biopic on the life and work of Maddin. Later Findlay would producer the MOW “Milgaard,” which won 6 Gemini swards including Best TV Movie. Findlay has had a hand in a number of subsequent projects, including the multi award winning Sundance hit feature “Heater.”
